This 9-panel piece is a response to the incredibly complicated issue of wind energy vs open space. This is a dilemma that is crisscrossing this country. The work is specifically inspired by 2 stories I read. The first was a battle in Wyoming between energy corporations who wanted to put turbines in endangered habitat and the defenders of the sage grouse. The sage grouse won this one. The second and ongoing is a proposal to build 40,000 wind turbines on sensitive wetlands and waterways that are crucial for the survival of many species, including the endangered whooping crane.
